Being a university town, Chambéry is quite busy throughout the year and a bit quieter in the summer. Located between two national parks and only 20 minutes by bicycle from the Bourget Lake, Chambéry is the perfect spot for nature lovers and outdoor people.

Tignes ski resort is situated in a large ski area of L'Espace Killy. Tignes makes the L'Espace Killy along with Val d'Isere combining over 300km (190 miles) of pistes 150 shops, 115 bars, numerous ski schools, 1500+ staff & extensive off-piste areas.
Due to its altitude Tignes has a very reliable snow record. According to 'The good Ski & Snowboarding Guide' Tignes/Val d'Isere is one of only two ski areas in France listed as the 'Snow-sure resorts'.
Tignes boasts a fast & efficient lift system 97 lifts including 2 high speed underground trains (funicular railways) one of which transports you from Tignes Val Claret to the 'Panoramic Restaurant' on the Grand Motte Glacier. All standards are catered for with '5 free lifts for beginners'
L'Espace Killy is known for its incredible off-piste with good lift access. Also there is a half pipe, boardercross course, some great freeriding & the 1992 Olympics downhill course should you be feeling up for it.

We will make sure to find the most suitable type of accommodation to match your preferences. All host families, shared apartments, studios or student residences are located in the town centre or in the outskirts. They are all easily accessible by bus, bicycle or on foot.A room in a French house

Shared Apartment
In a shared apartment you will have your own bedroom and share a kitchen and a bathroom with your flat mates (2 or more). Student residence
There is a variety of Student residences in the area. Some of the residences will ask for a deposit and will only accept long stays. In summer between June and August there are generally more rooms available. Please enquire for more details.
Important Note: Agency fees for reserving your accommodation in Annecy
If you are staying for one month or less: 40€
If you are staying for more than one month: 70€
A deposit of 200€ is necessary in order to reserve your accommodation. The agency fees will be deducted from your deposit and the amount that is left (160€ or 130€) will be deducted from your first month’s rent.
Agency fees will be charged every time you decide to change your accommodation for whatever reason.

Transfers
An airport transfer to Annecy can be reserved at your request. Rates are 120€ one-way from Lyon or Geneva Switzerland, depending on the availability of airport taxis and your date.
We advise students without a Swiss transit visa to arrive in Lyon, where less expensive public transport to Annecy is available.
